Christian Dior recounted endlessly gazing upon the fresco his mother Madeleine Dior had commissioned for the stairway of his childhood home in Granville: the flight of two herons that seemed to have escaped from the work of a great Japanese printmaster.
The Sakura fragrance is an ode to the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms, a symbol of the delicacy of Japanese aesthetics so dear to Christian Dior. These flowers reminded him of the decorative fresco he loved so much in his childhood home.
