The New Fifth Avenue Boutique
The House of Dior opened its doors on July 19, 2021 on one of New York's most iconic avenues, marking a significant milestone for Dior in the United States. Extending over two floors, the store reflects the diversity of the Dior universes by bringing a wide variety of creations together in a single location. The boutique is a fusion of emblematic Dior codes with French tradition.
Heritage and abstraction combine harmoniously through a mastery of motifs and colors. The wooden interior, where a color palette centers on light silver and off-white tones accented with beige and pale blues, is softened with furniture in the neo-Louis XVI style to evoke the atmosphere of a Parisian Hôtel Particulier. Cannage, a House emblem - evoking the Napoleon III-style canework chairs on which Christian Dior would seat guests at his shows - flourishes in delicate punctuations, including in an oversized version of reworked Versailles parquet flooring.
Ultimately, the pure-lined motif rises to a spectacular luminous dome, a celestial horizon of monumental proportions. The boutique's façade was designed exclusively for this location, with Cannage in different layers and scales, lit to create a see-through effect. The two-level boutique showcases women's and men's ready-to-wear, footwear, bags and accessories, alongside fine jewelry, timepieces, and Dior Maison.
Clients will find an assortment of women's leather goods and accessories displayed on glass tables and polished blade shelves. Throughout the space, product is cross merchandised, introducing a new display concept launched in the Paris Champs-Elysées boutique. Toile de Jouy Dior motif is presented on leather wall coverings exclusively fabricated for Fifth Avenue boutique, and the walls of the staircase are enriched with "Dancing Skirts" handmade tiles inspired by our Haute Couture collections.
On the lower level, the boutique offers private salons for VIP clients as well as dedicated luxury bags and high jewelry salons, in which exclusive creations are presented. Symbols of Monsieur Dior's passion, the couturier was a gallerist and an art collector before founding the House of Dior – is expressed by the presence of artwork in the VIP room, 'Lost & Found' a 2019 artwork by Kim Bartlet crafted from paper and recycled cardboard. The Fifth Avenue boutique offers a contemporary shopping experience while reflecting Dior's heritage of timeless elegance, luxury and innovation.
About Dior
Christian Dior was the designer of dreams. As soon as his House was founded in 1946, and consecrated by the revolution of the New Look, his visionary spirit never ceased to glorify women all over the world. “Fabric is the sole vehicle of our dreams (…). Fashion, in sum, comes from a dream, and dreaming is an escape,” he wrote. Season after season, this exceptional heritage is reinvented by the singular creative passion, force and modernity of the House’s Creative Directors who – from haute couture to perfumes – make the Dior magic live on with audacity, excellence of savoir-faire and its unique beauty of the gesture.
