Having debuted in 1999, the Dior Saddle bag takes its cues from the equestrian world. The inspiration can be seen in the graphic design with the now iconic asymmetrical flap that is reminiscent of a saddle shape. Its magnetic 'D' is influenced by stirrup clasps, while the signature 'CD' on each side makes the design distinctively Dior.

Maria Grazia Chiuri was fascinated by this accessory, declaring it an essential match to any shirt or jacket, and successfully sought to restore its notoriety by redesigning the vintage style in a wide range of colors and motifs. Throughout the seasons, the Creative Director looked at the Dior Saddle bag as a blank canvas, which gave free reign to her endless reservoir of imagination and creativity.

She has recreated the Dior Saddle bag as a minimalist and timeless style in grained or ultramatte calfskin, shiny goatskin, velvet or satin. In more ornate versions, it is covered with the hallmark Dior Oblique or Toile de Jouy motifs. It can also feature embellishments such as embroidery, resin pearls, sheepskin, multicolor pints, embroidered denim and exotic leathers. Each bag can be made even more unique with different 'Christian Dior' embroidered shoulder straps, which the House offers separately.

The line also boasts chains, belt pouches, card holders and phone cases to adopt to even the most modern lifestyles. The emblematic saddle shape even can be found in the Men's universe too, often the shape of pockets on bags, pants, or shirts. Women's leather Saddle bags, wallets, card holders and accessories each require many hours in the Dior ateliers, where the famous "petites mains" bring the Creative Director's vision to life. Each piece is crafted through a rigorous process with a savoir-faire that's unique only to the House.
