The Savoir-faire Of The Diorama Jewellery Creations
For the new High Jewellery launch, Victoire de Castellane was inspired by one of Dior's most iconic codes. Diorama collection reinterprets the Toile de Jouy print, which adorned the walls of Dior’s historic 30 Montaigne boutique in 1947.
This collection has been imagined as an enchanting stroll through the wooded landscapes of Milly-la-Forêt in northern France, in search of its flora and fauna. The pieces entice the eyes to wander and encounter creatures that are as magical as they are unexpected. Foxes, deer, rabbits, and squirrels emerge from the midst of a verdant forest.
Victoire de Castellane expresses once again her talents as a colourist and imagines monochromatic scenes: each set highlights a single colour—the deep green of emeralds is coupled with the softer green of tsavorite garnets, while the blue of sapphires refracts into harmonious shades, and the vivid red of rubies mingles with the delicacy of pink sapphires.
To give the sets an organic, naturalistic feel, the workshops employed numerous jewellery techniques and artisanal know-how : animals are set with precious stones, lacquered or carved in metal thanks to traditional sculpture techniques like bas-relief or ronde-bosse.
For the Diorama Forêt Enchantée set, Victoire de Castellane showcases the ancestral art of glyptic – the art of carving and engraving precious stones – to bring depth and realism to this wild design.
