Couture Sculptures

The looks of the Dior Summer 2025 men's collection dreamed up by Kim Jones are punctuated by bewitching scarf collars; striking symbioses between an archive piece entitled Négatif – thought up by Yves Saint Laurent for the autumn-winter 1960 line – and the oeuvre of South African artist Hylton Nel. Expressing the virtuosity of the Ateliers, these exceptional models are the fruit of a unique process: conceived in cotton poplin, they are immersed in a specific preparation that solidifies them, then meticulously shaped by the hands of craftsman Flávio Juán Núñez.

A marvellous choreography of gestures imbues these works of art with a captivating effect of movement. The material is worked in (several) thin layers and fired between each application, as if vitrified by the gradual increase in temperature. An ode to savoir-faire of excellence at the convergence of sculpture and couture.
