Dior Bobby
For the launch of the Fall 2020 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior unveils Dior Bobby, a new bag of timeless modernity and a subtle tribute to Christian Dior's beloved dog, whose name christened numerous looks.
One of the newer additions to the House's extensive collection of elegant handbags for women, the Dior Bobby bag, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, has already proven to be a mainstay. Its signature details include a structured silhouette, flap closure, military-inspired buckle, adjustable shoulder straps and a 'CD' signature at the front. True to the Creative Director's mission of giving women the freedom of self-expression, the shoulder straps can be removed and replaced with seasonal ones to bring a personalized element to each bag. The Creative Director's design pays tribute to Christian Dior via a myriad of elements, including the line's namesake — the couturier's beloved pet dog. Maria Grazia Chiuri chose this name because the bag's classic rounded shape and comfortable straps make it a cherished companion, much like Christian Dior's Bobby was to him. The eponymous collection is designed around the notion of loyalty, expert craftsmanship, as well as a silhouette that transcends time. The bag is made to be carried daily, and can pair with formal and relaxed ensembles alike. Other heritage influences are sprinkled throughout the collection on different styles. Some are with in the Dior Oblique motif while others feature the '30 Montaigne' hand-embossed along the back, 30 Montaigne being the address of Christian Dior's first ever boutique. The Dior Bobby bag is available in a diverse assortment of colors and materials, including smooth calfskin leather, shearling or jacquard. The unique design embodies the House's marriage of heritage and contemporary essence. The Christian Dior ateliers play as crucial a role as ever in the development of bags, each one handcrafted with expert precision. Their artisanship is a testament to the savoir-faire of the House.
